Mayor's Corner - Feb. 5, 2021

Dear Citizens:

February is upon us and there are two major topics the City Council will be reviewing:

the City Engineer's Report to take up the determination of roads to be repaired and to begin timely bidding of work for this spring.

In other news:

  • the appointment of members of the Parks & Recreation Board is underway.
  • our Manager was directed by the City Council to research alternatives and solutions for code enforcement and will report back.
  • we are researching grant opportunities for parks and trails and recreational development through the County and State resources.
  • The City Engineers will perform an analysis of traffic data before and after the opening of Blue Hole School including cut-through traffic patterns and speed.
  • We encourage citizen participation as we go forward. The City will be launching new Programs with opportunities for citizen volunteer participation. Watch for our Neighborhood Watch and Neighbor to Neighbor outreach and the city’s annual National Night Out event. Stay tuned for announcements with details soon.
  • As always, the City Management continues to do the work of the city although walk-in traffic is not possible.
  • Your Mayor, Manager and Staff are willing to conduct in-person meetings by appointment.
  • All in-person meetings of Council, Boards, Commissions and Committees are being held at CYJ.  We are able to meet in compliance with CDC and City COVID restrictions at the Camp. Proper distancing, wearing masks, sanitizing and temperature checks are the protocols.
  • Meetings are held during regular business hours. Ample opportunity for all to participate, in-person or virtually is our goal for 2021.

We value excellence as we lead in our service to each of you. Join us as we continue our Winning Ways in Woodcreek.

Be Safe, Mayor Whitehead
