Overview
The Tree and Parks Board consists of five members who shall generally advise the Mayor and City Council on matters pertaining to trees, city parks and recreation areas, including:
- Study, investigate, council and develop and/or update annually, and administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in parks, along streets and in other public areas.
- The acquisition, development, improvement, equipment, and maintenance of city parks and public playgrounds.
- The future development of the city parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities, and the purchase of additional land for those purposes.
- Improvements in the maintenance, operation, and general welfare of the city's parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities and their use by the public.
The Tree and Parks Board membership shall include residents of the city who are interested in tree preservation, public parks and public recreation. The Mayor, City Administrator or designee, and the City Attorney are ex officio, non-voting members of the board.
Members of the Trees and Parks Board shall be appointed by Council.
