Mayor's Corner - Code Enforcement

December 22, 2020

Dear Citizens,

As the City of Woodcreek grows, various avenues for effective code enforcement are explored.

The city management has authority to seek information regarding availability and cost of a Code Compliance Officer for the City by advertising for the possible position. Council approval for researching alternatives for compliance services is not required. The Manager and Mayor are responsible for the day-to-day business administrative operations of the city. Council approval is required for a decision to budget such position and to go forward with a hire when provided the research and data.

Citizens have come forward opposing the city's placement of an ad and oppose discussions of needed city compliance services.  On the other hand, many citizens have expressed agreement that the city must uphold the standards of the community by enforcement of city ordinances and are in favor of seeking a compliance officer. This matter will come before Council for full transparent discussion and action. City management will continue its duty to research all available solutions to provide Council assistance in making ultimate decisions.
