February 17, 2021 - Utility Update

PEC, along with other utilities across Texas, are experiencing service interruptions due to peak demand on the statewide electric grid.

The city of Woodcreek has been informed, during this unprecedented winter weather, ERCOT and the PUC has instituted rolling blackouts to reduce the usage on the electrical grid. PEC customers will experience planned service interruptions.  The rolling blackouts will continue until the electrical grid is stable. Please take the necessary steps to reduce the demand on the electrical system by:

  • Turning down thermostats to 68 degrees or lower.
  • Closing shades and blinds to reduce the amount of heat lost through windows.
  • Turning off or unplugging large non-essential lights and appliances.
  • Avoiding use of large appliances (i.e., ovens washing machines, dryers, etc).

Aqua Texas has issued the following statement:

?Due to power outages and freezing temperatures, you may experience a loss of water service.  Aqua's crews are responding as quickly as possible."

Staff has been in contact with local representatives of Aqua Texas and they are working to restore water service as soon as possible.  The inclement weather and rolling blackouts have caused the water wells to not meet the demand.  Additional equipment is en route to address the outage. Response is delayed because of the current road conditions.

The City of Woodcreek has received the following from Waste Connections:

Dear Community Partners:

Due to continued severe winter weather and road conditions, our solid waste collection services will be suspended for the remainder of the week.  We will resume operations, according to regular service schedules on Monday, February 22nd.

Due to the suspended services this week, we expect there to be many households with needs for extra service for the next 2-3 weeks.  We will plan to collect additional bags and bundles that are placed on the curb, above the normal set out limitations.  We appreciate everyone's patience as we navigate our way back to safe and normal operating conditions.

Our commitment remains to the health and safety of all people - our customers, our employees, and community members.

We thank you your support.

Even with the warmer temperatures, streets within Woodcreek remain snow and ice covered.  Travel is discouraged unless it is an emergency.

Stay Safe
